Nepean Speech and Language Service was originally established in 1986 at its Woodriff St location in Penrith. It was the first paediatric speech pathology business to be established in Penrith, and to this day, continues to thrive as a result of the respect that it has earned amongst the community of schools, Preschool’s, specialists and medical practitioners in the greater Penrith area.
Diana Wolf, the current Director of NSLS, came into the practice in 1995 as a co-owner of the business. The business then trading under the name of Medcalf & Wolf Speech Pathology. Prior to that, Diana worked providing speech therapy services at Campbelltown Community Health Centre for 3 years.
A rebranding of the business name to Nepean Speech and Language Services (NSLS) occurred in January 2011. This coincided with a move to the current business location in the Broadwalk Arcade, on high street Penrith.
In July 2016 Diana was thrilled when offered the opportunity to become sole owner / Director of NSLS. Diana brings to NSLS over 25 years of clinical experience, across a wide range of disorders. Diana continues to thrive on learning new ways to improve the lives of children by instilling in them the basic right of communication.
In the year 2000, Diana solely established school based speech therapy services throughout the area of Penrith. NSLS currently provides school based speech therapy services to 15 schools in the greater Penrith area. Diana believes by providing therapy in a child's school allows not only direct contact with teachers, but also a chance to see the underlying issues facing a child in the classroom.
Since the year 2001, Diana has been working a day each week in a preschool setting, assisting indigenous children with speech and language disorders. She has come to be highly respected in the indigenous community for the significant improvements in quality of life that have occurred in these children as a result of these children being able to communicate more proficiently.
In recognition of her interest in Autism Spectrum Disorder, Diana was elected to the Board of the Luke Priddis Foundation (helping children with Autism). She served as a board member for 5 years, from 2011 to 2105. The experienced gained by being on the Board allowed NSLS to provide support to an organisation that supports children with Autism Spectrum Disorder around the Penrith area. Diana helped provide guidance in establishing new groups to support children as well as fundraising opportunities to support LPF in continuing its work throughout the community.
Diana chooses her team members very carefully, as It is important that the reputation of NSLS as being one of western Sydneys premium speech pathology practices is upheld.
